Welcome to the table

Pull up a chair. Night of Nuts is a friendly, invite-only home game: player against player, no house cut, just chips, cards, and good company.

This little guide has everything for the evening: a cheat sheet of hand rankings, the full flow of Texas Hold'em, a plain-English note on keeping a home game clean and legal, and the two pictures you need to find the door. Use the buttons below to jump in.

First time?

New to the table?

Never played before, or just a little rusty? No worries. This is a friendly game and everyone was a first-timer once. A few pointers to help you settle in and enjoy the night:

  • Play fewer hands, well. When in doubt, fold. Waiting for strong starting hands beats chasing every pot.
  • Position is power. Acting later in the round lets you see what everyone else does first, so you can play a touch looser on or near the button.
  • Mind your stack. You never have to go big. Bet in amounts that keep you comfortable, and there's no shame in folding to save chips for a better spot.
  • Ask away. Not sure whose turn it is or what beats what? Just ask when you're not in the hand. We're happy to help, and the hand rankings are one tap away.
  • Have fun. It's a night of cards with friends. Relax, read the table, and enjoy the ride.
